Public Holiday on Monday in All Over Pakistan

Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Sunday announced 10-day national mourning on the demise of Nusrat Bhutto, leader of Pakistan Peoples Party and wife of late prime minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.

The Prime Minister also announced public holiday on Monday and cancelled all his engagements.

The Federal Cabinet will also not hold its meeting on Tuesday.

Public Holiday Tomorrow 24th October 2011

Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan has announced public holiday across the province after the demise of Begum Nusrat Bhutto on Monday, Geo News reported.

All Sindh government offices as well as educational institutions in the province will remain closed on Monday.

It is pertinent to mention here that Begum Nusrat Bhutto, wife former prime minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, died after protracted illness in Dubai on Sunday.

Begum Nusrat Bhutto Died in Dubai

Wife of former Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, Begum Nusrat Bhutto has died in Dubai, Geo News reported. She was 82.

She died of protracted illness.

Nusrat Bhutto was born on March 23, 1929, in Esfahan, Iran. She comes from the wealthy Hariri Esfahani family of Iran. She married Zulfikar Ali Bhutto in 1951.

She is also the mother of the late PPP chairman and former Prime Minister, Benazir Bhutto.

Karachi Traffic Mishap

Two cars from different directions came crashing each other went out of control and strayed on to the footpath killing one person and injuring four, Geo News reported.

Police said that a car coming from PIDC and another from Clifton Bridge rammed into each other near the Metropole traffic signal went out of control of the drivers and strayed on to the footpath, which resulted in the death of one person and four wounded.

Later, the traffic police removed the colliding cars from the footpath with the help of a lifter

Windscreen Crack of PIA Plane

The windscreen of the plane on flight from Dubai to Peshawar developed some cracks that necessitated its safe landing in Karachi.

PIA sources told that Dubai-Peshawar flight PK-284 was diverted to Karachi and made a safe landing after the windscreen of the plane Airbus A-310 had developed some cracks. 

PIA spokesman said that the plane after necessary repair would be leaving for Peshawar at 12.30 P.M. He further said that it was not the windscreen but the side screen that had developed some cracks, which necessitated the flight’s landing in Karachi.

Tourcher Cell in Karachi

The Rangers continued their search operation in different violence-hit areas of Karachi including Baldia Town and FB Area, Geo News reported. During the operation, several arrests were made while an alleged torture cell was also found in Yousuf Plaza.

The Rangers sealed Yousuf Plaza in FB Area and during the operation, a torture cell was discovered on the ground floor of the building and tools used to inflict torture were recovered. Investigations to find information about the owner and tenants are underway.

Additional force was deputed near the plaza during the search operation. According to the sources, twelve people were arrested during the operation while arms were also recovered from their possession and later they were transferred to an unknown location.

On the other hand, a search operation was also conducted in Rangarh Mohallah of Baldia Town and the entry and exit points of the area were sealed.

During the operation in Pehalwan Goth area of Gulistan-e-Johar, the Rangers destroyed pickets in a building and surveillance cameras that were used by the accused. The Rangers sealed the apartment building and the entry and exit points of the area.
